Committee Roles
Chairperson

Role Description
- Figurehead and spokesperson for the LKA
- Oversees the LKA committee and keeps projects moving
- Chair and arrange (or delegate the organisation of) committee meetings and the AGM
- Negotiate with the EKA and other areas
Secretary

Role Description
- Organises committee meetings and takes minutes
- First point of contact with the EKA, other areas and LKA clubs
- Receive and send out communications
- Keep an up-to-date contact list for LKA clubs
- Ensures the area is represented at EKA meetings
Treasurer

Role Description
- Keeps area accounts up-to-date
- Arranges and collects fees from clubs / players
- Pays all outgoing expenses
- Forecasts future financial position and budget requirements
- Advises on fee levels
Competition Co-ordinator

Role Description
- Responsible for the organisation of competitions, which includes the running of the indoor leagues, any outdoor leagues and the junior’s league
- Liaise with the fixtures secretary during the creation of the fixture list and Referee Co-ordinator for the referee’s rota
- Responsible for the running of the league and the adjudication of any decisions or fines
- Responsible for the running of any LKA tournaments
Development Co-ordinator

Role Description
- Oversee the expansion of korfball in London
Child Welfare Officer

Role Description
- Act as a first point of contact for any person in korfball at a club level who has a concern about child welfare and protection
- Uphold confidentiality, as far as is practically possible, in all child protection matters
- Help safeguard young people by assisting in the promotion and implementation of the EKA Child Protection Policy at a club level
- Basic knowledge of legislation, government policy and the roles and responsibilities of the statutory agencies within child protection, such as social services, police and the NSPCC is required
- Act as the DBS verifier for the London Area
- Be prepared to communicate with the EKA Child Welfare Officer
- Review underage player forms for young players which enable them to play against adults
Non-Committee Roles
Competitions Administrator
Role Description
Maintain the league rankings using the online system
- Maintain the league rankings using the online system
- Collect match forms from each club and ensure these have been completed correctly
- Assist the Competition Co-ordinator as required
Fixtures Secretary
Role Description
- Produce the fixture list for the indoor LKA divisions
- First point of contact on any fixture issues arising during the year (e.g. requests to rearrange / postpone / change fixture details)
Public Relations and Marketing Officer

Role Description
- Promote korfball generally in the London area (i.e. the LKA, the London clubs and their activities)
- Utilise the website, social media, leaflets, posters, videos, press releases in order to achieve this
- Update the LKA’s website, Facebook page, Twitter feed and any other marketing material
- The officer should also take into account the resources available to allow korfball to grow in the London area
Representatives Officer
Role Description
- To organise London representative teams for each age group to enter inter-area tournaments
- Organise entry into the inter-area competitions both junior and senior
- Liaise with clubs to find a coach and manager for all teams
- Offer support to volunteers with regard to registers, fees etc.
- Help find hall time for training when requested by coach/manager
- Feedback to the LKA committee
Referee Co-ordinator
Role Description
- Allocate refereeing commitments to clubs with teams playing in the LRL
- Contact the home club by the Thursday preceding a weekend match to inform them of the referee’s name so that the home club can confirm details of the match with the referee
- Liaise with the Competitions Co-ordinator to arrange referee theory courses as required by clubs
- Liaise with the Competitions Co-ordinator in arranging practical assessments where requested for those who hold a current referees theory pass
- Liaise with the Competitions Co-ordinator in arranging assessments for Level Q referees who ask to be assessed for promotion to Level R
Junior Competition Co-ordinator
Role Description
- Liaise with clubs to establish number and age range of junior players at the start of the season.
- Establish type and number of junior competitions to be run throughout the season.
- Organise which clubs will host which junior events and maintain checklist host clubs to follow.
- Oversee junior events, recording scores of matches, ensuring clubs are correctly charged and payments received for teams participating.
